I started to create two intuitive layered bases during the morning of a full day 's Life Drawing & Painting Workshop at the Gasworks Arts Park, Melbourne.
I kept to the same limited colour palette on both bases as well as when I was developing both paintings later.
I've only participated in Zoom sessions previously therefore creating and painting with 17 other artists was something very different for me and very special too.
In the second part of the day our delightful model held two long poses which gave participants the opportunity to embed, or start to embed, her pose within our layered bases rather than just sketch or paint her over the top of them.
Beauty Isn't Skin Deep developed rather quickly and the essence of Aurora's yoga pose emerged with ease. Title given to her was a statement I had written within the base layers earlier.
I had to move on to my other canvas and our models second pose, therefore I finished her during the following week at home.
I enjoyed working with the limited colour palette I had spontaneously chosen for both pieces.
Starting with my two similar intuitive bases I wouldn't have imagined how different Beauty Isn't Skin Deep and Spread Your Wings & Fly would look from each other however there is still a cohesiveness between the two.
Sides of the canvas painted crisp white.
