Those familiar with my work would be aware that many of my paintings are created intuitively. This means the artist is about connecting with their creative intuitive and allow it to guide them through the process of creating art. The idea is to experience creative freedom, experiment with different materials and most importantly, to have fun creating.
I definitely felt freedom and wild abandonment while applying paint and sgraffito (mark marking). The warm colours, shapes, sgraffito, had my mind gravitating to thoughts of a bush fire along a ridge top. Rather than fight against those thoughts, further paint, markings, details added to embellish my thoughts on the canvas.
Fires can be mesmerising, offer warmth and comfort but are also terrifying, dangerous and heartbreaking when not in contained environments.
My colour palette of mainly reds, yellow, orange, and purple awash my canvas with energetic fiery flames. I purposely only used a touch of black to keep this stimulating painting from looking too menacing.
'Fire on Cockatoo Ridge' would add colour and a little drama not only to your home, but create a stimulating talking piece in a office space, building foyer or cafe. Especially those spaces with monochrome decor.
