Artwork Description

I was in the process of creating a simple in style and colour mermaid painting for an acquaintance when she shared that she no longer required the painting. This change in arrangements triggered my creative juices.....what should I do with my mermaid? As I had recently been exposed to the use of printing in painting with self made printing templates I was inspired to start to adapt the simple painting with the use of printing and stencilling. Then, multiple additional layers of printing, stencilling, marking, glazing and painting applied to create depth, movement and interest until my simple blue mermaid base transformed into a mysterious deep sea world. I find the movement reflected in this painting a little hypnotic and calming. I hope you do too.
