This delightful abstract duo started with a walk around our rustic suburban garden taking a close up look at the garden environment through my phone camera searching for unusual visual stimulation to use as inspiration.
Inspiration for Sands of Time Diptych came from a few cropped photos (pebbles, wood textures, rust, peeling paint) I took on my little stroll.
My intuitive painted base layers started with a very light colour palette and left the look of sweeping desert sands on my two sheets of paper. I slowly built up my layers through sketching, painting and marking until a unique, geological, possibly subterranean abstract, morphed in front of my eyes.
Many of my artworks are very detailed therefore I really enjoyed keeping this duo minimalistic, even though there is much to stimulate the eye.
I aimed for two intriguing pieces to look cohesive in their colour, design and feel when hung together and I believe I have achieved my goal. I hope you think so too.
Dimensions: Both are 42cm (W) x 58 (H) = Diptych total 84cm (W) x 58 (H)
My work is organic therefore the dimensions of these paintings includes a rough 1cm border which can be covered during your chosen framing method.
As they both require framing my artwork photos include pictures of how this pair could look framed and hung.
