This is a description of an original oil painting on canvas of the North Atlantic coastline landscape in Maine, New England. The painting depicts a seascape with nature, rocks, cliffs, trees, and clouds, evoking a sense of tranquility through the use of the impasto technique in the Impressionism style. The painting is a plain air small etude of the coastal landscape, created using master-quality material with brush and pallet knives to build up heavy impasto. The edges are covered with archival white linen tape for a clean contemporary look, and it is ready to hang without the need for framing. Ruslan Khais is a Philadelphia-based artist working predominantly in the genre of Abstract Landscape.
Not restricting himself to a single style, Khais freely moves into more representational or purely abstract works that, at times, merge into Surrealism. The French Impressionists and artists of the Hudson River School are his main influences and inspiration.
A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Khais has participated in numerous group shows and solo exhibitions. He's also received awards from the Philadelphia Sketch Club, PAFA Alumni Association, Berks County Art Alliance, Berman Museum, the Vermont Studio Center, and others. His work is also held in several corporate and private collections.
