This intricate painting featuring three of my favourite Aussie backyard birds in varying hues of Emerald Green is a Triptych. The work consists of three separate paintings which have been framed together as one large piece. The styled photo is the painting hanging in my own bedroom (not a mock up). To give a correct sense of scale. The shot showing the sides of the frame was taken in my studio at night, so appears a little more yellow that in real life. The bedroom shot is a good indication of the best light and colour of the work.
Around this time last year, I produced a series of Triptychs on watercolour paper similar in style to this painting. Right now I am re-visiting the series and producing similar fine detailed works on canvas experimenting with different compositions and colour stories. My work is influenced by Oriental aesthetics and I like presenting my paintings in the triptych format because it reminds me of decorative Japanese screens.
