Sometimes I feel like painting flowers from life and sometimes - as with this painting, I like to remove much of the form and focus on the simplicity of shape and composition only. This requires studying my specimens and drawing from life, then putting the reference out of sight and using memory and a sprinkling of artist's license to create my stylised still life paintings.
This Painting features heavily stylised Pink Ice Proteas and some silver dollar sprigs in a glass vase of water. Painted on to beautiful thick textured watercolour paper. Unframed.
