This vibrant watercolour painting features Proteas and a coastal Banksia in a retro vase.
I love the combo of Australian native flowers and retro pottery together, and this is a theme I've been exploring quite a bit lately in various incarnations.

This painting plays with the unique characteristics of Gouache paint (my favourite medium). I love the random watermarks and texture created by varying the paint consistency which can be seen in the background grey colour. I also use a thicker opacity to create the white line work featured on the leaves, vase and petals.

This painting would make an ideal gift for your Mid Century Modern loving friend, or native plant enthusiast (or both). Requires framing, will be sent carefully wrapped in tissue paper and packaged in a rigid box.
