I have worked on this on and off for over a year, when I added the pearl to the foreground it felt complete. The painting feels more refined then my usual work, perhaps this is the effect of a slow pace. I like the contrast of the light and dark as well as the delicate nature of an orchid presented in a different way keeping the company of a orange fan mushroom. Cowrie shells are a symbol of protection, a pearl symbol of wisdom.
