Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This artwork comes with an external frame

Most of my work reflects on the joys of childhood, and how to hold onto that in the present. What better way to honour my childhood collections of figurines, than to paint them? Here is my pop culture nostalgia collection, many more to come.

This artwork comes with an external frame, which is ready to hang with wire & d-rings. The Frame is also wide enough to be free standing. This artwork is painted with acrylic on canvas, sealed with varnish, as is the pine frame.

Artist Bio

I have been drawing and painting since I was little, and have arranged my life so I can paint and create as much as I can. I have studied art, creative writing, philosophy, animation and teaching, and I'm sure I will continue studying different things to fill my library and my imagination. I have also worked as an Art, Design and English teacher, and continue to find my way through art and life, with my happy Golden Retriever Sunny by my side.

I predominantly work with acrylics, within the still life and pop art genres. I combine my love of nature, art history, pop culture, literature, philosophy, and all the childhood dreams and cool things from the 80s and 90s that made me so happy (and still do). I have held onto so many objects from my childhood, things that have value to me, through the memories and ideas connected to them. These objects connect to who I am now and hold a strong connection to who I was when I first attained them, and what better way to reflect on the past and present, then to paint it.

I started painting the side of the canvas because nothing goes to waste, no space, no trial, no challenge. The whole canvas is part of the artwork, there is no need for a frame, and the objects, flowers and symbols can be seen from all sides.

The works brings together newly acquired grown-up things, with objects from my childhood, because it is a world I never want to forget. Not because I am clouded with nostalgia, longing for the 'good old days', I believe our best days are always ahead of us, but because I have a deep sense of gratitude for the memories and experiences gained, and the era I grew up in. The objects take on new meaning when arranged within a still life composition, yet they still hold the sense of joy felt when listening to a certain song, reading a book, playing with a toy that gave you hours and hours of joy, or spending hours and hours painting a picture.
