Artwork Description

Freesias
With freesias and portraits as subject matter Sandra revisits the Victorian era, when ‘floriography’ really took off, freesias were used as a way to pass secret messages to each other,. if you received a bunch of freesias from someone during this time it was the ultimate sign of trust.

Artist Bio

The ocean has always been my muse, through photography, soft pastels and oil painting.

The growth of my art expression began after 1984 when I majored in art education for Primary School teaching. I have taken various courses in drawing, watercolour, pastels, acrylics and oils. I have complete a Diploma in Fine Arts in 2011 at Hornsby Tafe. I have taught art to both adults and children in my own home studio in Canberra, North Avoca, at the Central Coast Community College and Gosford Regional Gallery and now in Crescent Head.

I have had three successful solo art shows on the Central Coast of NSW and have participated in numerous group exhibitions in NSW and the ACT. I was represented in a group exhibition by Agora Gallery, New York in 2009 and by Trevisan Art International, Bologna Italy in 2011. and KAB Gallery , Terrigal. Works have also been purchased by local and interstate collectors through private sales and commissions.
