I love painting waterlilies combining the beauty of the flower and water, two of my favourite things that I paint.
I have used soft colors and thick impasto paint applied with a palette knife on the light areas and more transparent thinner paint in the darker areas. To achieve a sense of calm and peace the water is flat and gently moves under and between the lily pads . The filtered light gives reflections and a quiet mood to the painting.
Love of the Lily would be equally at home in a living area, bedroom or a welcoming hallway or entry, It would also work well in the reception area of a business or waiting room scenario.
