Artwork Description

Photograph on paper

Signed and numbered on the front.

As an artist majoring in painting I found a commonality between Francis Bacon's work and my own through a similarity in our process, which is using photographs. To create my self-portrait I decided to focus on the immediacy/ chance of accidents, as indeed he would. I painted my face and tried to rearrange my features through movements to mimic the flow of Bacon’s brushstrokes, in a heated frantic movement, showing a sense of destruction and ambiguity (as seen in Bacon's artworks) in my portraits, captured by a camera.
