Fire is part of a body of work that harnesses the nature of materials such as silicone and wax to explore the pattern created by iterative actions such as slicing, extrusion and compression. The repetition of these inherently imperfect actions reveals an overall form. Eddowes’ work draws on fundamental principles of painting such as colour mixing, transition of boundaries and rhythm. The restriction of an organised, repetitive process reveals organic and geometric forms that provoke a sense of wonder.
