Little Light

Little Light • This one is so playful and feels like a moment to moment. I struggled at first to see the direction with this one as I've been really enjoying painting on a much larger scale so to paint something small again was hard (I even was wondering why I ordered small canvases again??) Then I remembered it was so I could experiment and not think. I could explore with my oil mediums in between my commissions with no expectation to list the piece. This one has been drying on my wall for some time now and I'm definitely loving the playful pops of colour this one has added to my daily hangs in the studio space. I think this one is now ready for a forever home.

Lena Baumgartner is self-taught and creates large scale abstract expressive works. Looking at Lena's works and you feel everything first - bold colours, soft gesture and the pulse of emotion. She creates thick, texturally brush strokes that you want to reach out and touch. She often pairs striking and contrasting colours together to provoke emotional responses when viewing her artwork from afar. Her practice is mood-led with restless days drawing in the greens and blues while frenetic days are filled with vibrant pinks or even muted neutrals. Sometimes the compositions are clean, other times they're messy and alive. She has actively participated in both solo and group exhibitions, showcasing her talent and unique way of mixing and blending colours on canvas.
