The Clearing • There is a place my boys go to for bike rides and it’s almost hidden from plain sight. It has dirt tracks that run slightly down hill. If they had it their way, we would be there for hours. It has lots of green trees surrounding the tracks that almost cave us in and for some reason the place always feels inviting and warm. It’s a feeling I associate with autumn colours. It’s a place of simplicity but my kids love it.

Lena Baumgartner is self-taught and creates large scale abstract expressive works. Looking at Lena's works and you feel everything first - bold colours, soft gesture and the pulse of emotion. Her practice is mood-led with restless days drawing in the greens and blues while frenetic days are filled with vibrant pinks or even muted neutrals. Sometimes the compositions are clean, other times they're messy and alive. She has actively participated in both solo and group exhibitions, showcasing her talent and unique way of mixing and blending colours on canvas.
