Hi! Thanks so much for taking a moment to view my profile. I’m grateful you’ve found me here.
I had been working in the Interiors industry for over 20 years as a Designer and Colour Consultant, but after some health issues a few years ago I returned to my love of painting as a form of physiotherapy, and haven’t put the brush - well, palette knife - down since.
Influences emerge from my love of all things sea, land and sky. I have views to the Brindabella ranges, and a protected nature reserve within walking distance so am constantly inspired by the trees and mountain ranges, beautiful sunsets, and cloud formations - I sky gaze daily! However, the coast and seascapes are my absolute passion. The South Coast is only 90 minutes down the road, and I love gaining inspiration from lush headlands and breezy shorelines, and the light that refracts through moody clouds, and coastal waters.
The scenic road trips to the coast and back, and to my home town of Wagga Wagga, are also a huge inspiration for my roadscapes, often with my signature pink road…they resonate with many. Likewise, my figurative seascapes capturing families and loved ones on the beach are highly sought after and as such, I am often booked out months in advance for commissions.
I consider painting my therapy. Life is hard. Messy. I’ve faced some really dark trials, unexpected loss, I’ve had my world shattered several times over. I live with grief, and chronic pain. Physio is still a weekly thing for me. But I’ve learnt to persevere, to look for hope - it doesn’t always just come to us. It’s a conscious decision; to seek light, to pursue peace, choose joy. So what comes to life on a canvas is a true consequence of my emotions, memories, experiences, and my Christian faith.
I adore the word 'heartwork' - apart from the slight reference to my surname - it describes my process perfectly. I use beautiful colour harmonies to create emotive artworks from the heart that allow you to reflect on your own story; to finish the train of thought, to remember a time or place, and to explore and feel the emotions they instill. Artworks that are relatable, that evoke a sense of calm, that force you to exhale...and bring you hope.
My work sells consistently for which I'm very thankful for. I've had several artworks featured on The Block, in Grand Designs Australia Magazine, and I am fortunate to exhibit my work and have gallery representation. I also have retail stockists and consider it a privilege to have sold to over 600 Australian and International collectors in the few years I've been painting.
I sum up my art journey as one of “…capturing light, painting hope. That’s what I hope to do each time I pick up a palette knife. Spread light and encourage others with hope. My artworks are a reminder to always look for that light and hope, no matter how dark or hopeless things seem. I hope that you too will find that special piece that you'd like to give a forever home to. Thanks for being here!
