Coal Face

This 1960s Newcastle geographical map for coal was the perfect spot for a Black Cockatoo that I've called Coal Face. Edges turned with the map where possible, otherwise painted white. As this is a 60 year old large paper which has had a previous life and was never meant to have someone glue it onto a canvas, let alone paint on it, there are signs of its former life. I like that.

Artist Statement
After painting as a full time artist for the past 15 years, I've decided to just leave some previous works available here as prints only. No originals. It is unfortunately no longer financially viable to try and sell original work on this site when my returns after two recent increases in commission from BT, increases in shipping, material costs etc mean my actual proceeds from a sale are quite small. Thanks to my collectors and followers these past years. I wish you all the very best.
