Melbourne (and jewels that surround her)

An unusual find, this particular map. It's a much older one of Melbourne than the ones that usually come my way. I liked the opportunity to turn the Yarra into a flyaway tendril of hair. Getting a large, 50 year old piece of paper that had a previous life onto canvas, then trying to reimagine the existing colours and lines is sometimes quite a challenge. Lightly sprayed with varnish for protection. Edges painted white.

Artist Statement
After painting as a full time artist for the past 15 years, I've decided to just leave some previous works available here as prints only. No originals. It is unfortunately no longer financially viable to try and sell original work on this site when my returns after two recent increases in commission from BT, increases in shipping, material costs etc mean my actual proceeds from a sale are quite small. Thanks to my collectors and followers these past years. I wish you all the very best.
