This piece belongs to the ‘neon_ghetto_flux’ collection of works produced in 2022. Titled 'liquid chemistry', it's the first in a trilogy which delves into the present and future involvement of technology on humanity and society. This tension is apparent, as noted in the titles of the artwork.
The high-tech and gleaming colours, ‘the neon flux’ is heavily present across the three works, but not over shadowing the ‘ghetto’ of decay and old, which Lovell merges with cleverness. This provides an atmosphere of uncertainty. The imagery intends to provoke emotion; making it the essential indicator of someone’s ‘humanity’.
