Artwork Description

Layers of charcoal-black and burnt umber sit against passages of raw white and warm ochre. Built up in broad, worked strokes, the surface holds its own history — scraped back, restated, left visible. A quiet architecture of blocked forms emerges, weighted and unhurried.
Part of the ongoing Alpha Series, exploring structure and restraint through a wabi-sabi lens: imperfection, process, and the beauty of the unresolved.

Artist Bio

Based in Brisbane, I am a painter working in oil, acrylic, and mixed media on canvas. After a two-year hiatus between 2023 and 2025, I returned full-time to the studio with a shift from representational work to abstraction — paint as its own subject, where surface and gesture carry what image once conveyed.
My work has been exhibited across Australia since 2011, with pieces held in private collections locally and throughout the US and Europe.
