There is an intimate connection between the eye, hand and mind that makes drawing such a personal form of expression. The intimacy of the act of drawing and the ephemeral nature of the materials I use, enable me to express and explore the connection I have with my environment. I am interested in the beauty and physicality of water and have been inspired by my experience of living on the Australian coast. The ecological viewpoint that I have of the world and my reflections on the sublime, inform and influence my drawing practice.
These works evince feelings of immersion and the connectedness one senses by the sea and they reflect upon the beauty and fragility of the natural environment. I am currently exploring the physicality of water, wind and salient currents, which create the shifting tides and atmospheres over the tense and captivating point between land, sea and sky.
