Artwork Description

The influence for this painting was the stunning images of the Hawaiian volcano Kilauea erupting and the molten red hot lava flowing all the way to the ocean. The ocean water boils and steam rises in huge clouds over the landscape. I remember flying over Kilauea in a small plane years ago and the scarring it has left on the land over many years is strangely beautiful in shape, texture and colour. Framed in beautiful Tasmanian Oak and ready to hang.

Artist Bio

Steve is a Torquay, Australia based painter whose work draws deeply from the abstract world around him. From the city to the coast, Steve draws inspiration and interprets that energy and colour into his work.

His work is represented in collections across Australia and abroad.

Steve has been creative for most of his life. Working in the graphic arts industry and being part of design and photography teams has given him the experience and skills to create his art.

From his home studio he conjures thoughts that drift and settle and there’s always something waiting just under the surface; a flicker, an image, a thought.

For Steve, it’s about connection and the invitation is open for others to make that connection. When someone does that with a piece, that’s the magic.
