Sundara

Sundara, meaning beautiful in Sanskrit, is a painting from Stephanie's 'Prana' series.

The sounds of the ancient language of Sanskrit are the expressions of the harmony and perfection of nature’s intelligence. All natural systems can be seen as comprised of various levels of existence - where the innermost level contains the whole, just as the tree is contained in the seed. This series expresses the wisdom inherent in nature’s cycles and the resulting flourishing energy of Prana that exists in us also.

Stephanie grew up in the Country areas of the New South Wales Central Coast and moved to the Gold Coast in 1997 to be closer to her family. Daughter of political cartoonist Larry Pickering and one of eleven children, she enjoyed a colourful and interesting childhood. With a background in graphic design she was a partner in 'Studio Otto Illustration and Design' for 12 years before deciding to devote her time fully to painting in 2007. Solo Exhibition venues include Gold Coast 'Home of the Arts', Bundall, Doggett Street Studio, and Newstead Brisbane.
