Artwork Description

Vihara which refers to a sacred space in Sanskrit, is a painting from Stephanie's 'Prana' series, which means life-force.

'Vihara is an abstract painting from my memory of a place I lived for 10 years when I was younger. There was a wide creek, lined by mangroves that meandered down through steep, uninhabited, bushland, only accessible by boat. This is my abstract impression of an aerial view of Patonga creek. I hope to convey the life-force of this area, raw and energetic.

In Sanskrit language, all natural systems can be seen as comprised of various levels of existence - where the innermost level contains the whole, just as the tree is contained in the seed. This series expresses the wisdom inherent in nature’s cycles and the resulting flourishing energy of Prana that exists in us also.

Vihara is a combination of yellow, pink green and blue grey. She is painted on a quality stretched canvas with 3.8cm sides, so she's ready to hang. The image extends around the sides of the painting.

All paintings are finished in 2 coats of satin lacquer for protection and longevity.
