An Ostrich racing in front of a melting ice shelf, while a smiley faced emoji in place of the sun laughs as we continue to ignore the growing climate crisis.

Artist Bio

STEPHEN HALL BIO
Stephen Hall, born in Scotland, is an artist who takes a traditional approach to a modern subject. Now living in New York, his work is indicative of a surging talent that has been refined over many years. Each of his paintings is composed of numerous layers, executed without any modern trickery such as digital assistance or an airbrush. The resulting lush density of color and light variation owns the viewer’s attention.
Stephen has not only been exhibiting worldwide since the early 80s, but his work also resides in corporate and private collections worldwide and has been featured in movies, music videos, and magazines. On top of this, he has also illustrated book covers for A.A. Milne, J.G. Ballard, and Russell Greenan amongst others.
Over the past several years, with specific use of color and composition, he engages the viewer inclusively. He has been more explicit in his purpose, focusing on pollution, climate change, and the ongoing endangering of fauna and flora.
He will often juxtapose the subject with its environmental setting, while adding a man-made object, or corporate product, as a symbol of our culpability.
