I am drawn to the captivating imagery of a weathered lighthouse standing tall against the backdrop of a big, crashing wave. Amidst the chaos, there is a sense of peace knowing that there is a place of shelter and solace, a sanctuary, offering guidance and protection for those navigating the unpredictable seas.

Steve Myers is a Tasmania-based artist who mainly works in oils. A principal theme in Steve's work is the ocean where he finds his escapism and inspiration. Steve started surfing at the young age of four and he has always been drawn to the sea, its energy, and its vastness which provoke emotion that he tries to capture in his art. Steve mostly paints Tasmanian seascapes, particularly the wild west coast and its rugged beauty and remoteness.
