Artwork Description

Summers in Queensland mean palm trees, pandanus palms and pine trees lining the crystal blue beaches. This coastal scene has been unpicked and constructed in an abstract format that displays all the elements of a beach holiday. The coast is always at our very being and is like medicine for the soul. It captivates and inspires us while healing us and preparing for the next time until its holiday season again. All the ingredients to a summer holiday can be found including a beach towel in representational form. I hope you enjoy it for its light- hearted approach and sense of fun. I hope that it makes you feel the sun on your skin and the smell of the ocean.

A happy piece based on summery days at the beach and the stories that follow. A childhood spent at the beach in school holidays. A special, healing feeling as soon as you smell the sea. I am really enjoying experimenting with this abstract style. I have added palm trees and pandanus palms, rock walls and beautiful squishy sand colours.

A happy, positive fun piece for any room in your house where you want to add colour and dream about the beach! It would also suit a child's bedroom or add some fun to your entrance way. The edges of this canvas are part of the story so it doesnot require framing.

Artist Bio

My work is an expression of my deep connection to nature, drawn from the subtle beauty I encounter in my daily walks through the Australian landscape. The fleeting yet profound moments I find in local plants, flowers, and gardens are at the heart of my practice. I am inspired by the delicate, often overlooked details that, when observed closely, reveal the resilience and vibrancy of life. These small but significant finds serve as the foundation for my abstract floral and landscape paintings.

In my art, I aim to celebrate the essence of nature—not through realistic depictions, but through bold, abstract forms that elevate the quiet energy of plants and gardens. My work reflects my reverence for nature’s intricate beauty, and my desire to bring attention to the often-hidden wonders of the natural world. Each painting is an exploration of how the landscape speaks to me: it could be the subtle play of light on a petal, the curve of a leaf, or the rhythm of growth that occurs just beneath the surface.

My practice is not only about capturing what I see, but also about fostering a dialogue between the internal and external landscapes—the emotional response I feel as I encounter these living forms, and the way nature’s rhythms mirror our own human experience. Through color, texture, and abstraction, I seek to convey the layers of meaning and connection I feel with the natural world, offering viewers a space to pause and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us.

Ultimately, my work is a tribute to the natural world, an attempt to elevate the often unnoticed moments in our everyday lives, and an invitation for others to see and appreciate the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary.
