Artwork Description

Summer is a time in Australia for stone fruit, and barbeques and summer desserts which means friends and family and happy times.

In our family, cherries always come up in the holiday seasons with talks of cherry pies for Christmas and planning menus, I decided that the cherries on the tree were a great image for Christmas, kitchens and family and a beautiful subject for a still life in its purist form, in nature rather than a bowl. i hope that this particular piece will speak to you of family and good times.

This is a fun happy piece with light bubbles behind that add to the cheery cherries and plays on the effect of light in photos and reproduces the effect in a fun manner. Framed view for illustration purposes only.

Artist Bio

My work is an expression of my deep connection to nature, drawn from the subtle beauty I encounter in my daily walks through the Australian landscape. The fleeting yet profound moments I find in local plants, flowers, and gardens are at the heart of my practice. I am inspired by the delicate, often overlooked details that, when observed closely, reveal the resilience and vibrancy of life. These small but significant finds serve as the foundation for my abstract floral and landscape paintings.

In my art, I aim to celebrate the essence of nature—not through realistic depictions, but through bold, abstract forms that elevate the quiet energy of plants and gardens. My work reflects my reverence for nature’s intricate beauty, and my desire to bring attention to the often-hidden wonders of the natural world. Each painting is an exploration of how the landscape speaks to me: it could be the subtle play of light on a petal, the curve of a leaf, or the rhythm of growth that occurs just beneath the surface.

My practice is not only about capturing what I see, but also about fostering a dialogue between the internal and external landscapes—the emotional response I feel as I encounter these living forms, and the way nature’s rhythms mirror our own human experience. Through color, texture, and abstraction, I seek to convey the layers of meaning and connection I feel with the natural world, offering viewers a space to pause and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us.

Ultimately, my work is a tribute to the natural world, an attempt to elevate the often unnoticed moments in our everyday lives, and an invitation for others to see and appreciate the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary.
