Artwork Description

The warm, shimmering, summer sun and the light sea breeze sweeping across Port Phillip Bay gave this beautiful inspiration to Tonia. To capture this expansive beach scene, she has created two paintings, a diptych, where one scene continues across the second painting. Turquoise blue waters and small waves feature with a beach path that extends across the two paintings. Three young girls are seen in this second painting, Bayside Bliss 2. Along the horizon the atmosphere hangs with haze and cumulous white clouds. This painting, Bayside Bliss 2, can be bought and hung separately or with it's diptych partner painting, Bayside Bliss 1, which is also on Tonia's Bluethumb site - see photo

Hi there

Thank you for taking a look at my artwork.

To be able to create anything at all from an initial thought, whether it be simple or complex, realistic or contemporary, is a journey that is building on my years of using a range of mediums including acrylics, pastels, graphite, ink, watercolour and oils.

I am so fortunate to be able to fulfil my dream of being an artist and creating artwork regularly.

MY INSPIRATION
Constantly thinking about art, and finding inspiration from Australian and French Impressionists, I'm creating open compositions using visible brush strokes and palette knife texture to depict movement and light in its changing qualities.

I'm captivated by beautiful scenes of nature, such as the colour and moods of the weather on the sky, ocean, and mountains, adding my own interpretation to the painting. I'm compelled to capture the blues and greens of the ocean by creating more ocean art, beach paintings and seascapes.

I love the free-flowing lines and curves of the female form and have created contemporary and minimalist linear paintings in my 'Sophie' series of nudes. These depict beautiful, thoughtful, self-assured and sensual women from my interpretations from life drawing over a number of years. These paintings are also available as giclee prints.

The world-wide artist community is extensive and so creative and I'm constantly inspired connecting with these amazing artists.

MY JOURNEY
SYDNEY - MANSFIELD - MELBOURNE
I grew up in Sydney and spent many of my days lazing on beaches, swimming in the ocean and exploring the bush in the Royal National Park.
I headed interstate and lived for a number of years in country Victoria, at the foot of Mt Buller, where much of my time was spent in the snow and gazing in awe at the breathtaking High Country scenery.
Home continues to be Melbourne where I'm enjoying the city's cultural diversity and vibrancy. Beautiful bayside beaches and the often wild and untamed coastline of the Mornington Peninsula give me plenty of inspiration.
