Artwork Description

Whisky Bay is located in Wilsons Promontory National Park, or ‘The Prom’, as it‘s affectionately known, it is the southern most point of mainland Australia, about 3 1⁄2 hours drive from Melbourne.
Whisky Bay, I believe takes its name from the creek that flows to the beach, the creek bed is stained by tannins giving it a whisky like colour.
Who could not be inspired by the stunning coastal scenery. Pristine wilderness, and large granite boulders, contrast perfectly with the clear turquoise waters of Whisky Bay. The thongs on the boulder gives some perspective to the scale of the beautiful seascape.
The little haiku below by my wife Jéanne encapsulates the essence of this painting.

Lost and lonely thongs lie waiting, waiting to be found
before curling wave steals their safety, claims them...
Owner wonders about their fate.

Artist Bio

My True Love.
Generally my style of art is Representational – realistic stuff, anything that has a strong recognisable subject. Sometimes however I abandon my fine art lured by my previous life as a graphic designer and momentarily I'm overcome and revert to the use of minimalist shapes, images and bright colours.
Being an impatient individual, I prefer to work with acrylics rather than other mediums because of their quick drying time. This allows me the flexibility to make mistakes, knowing that I'm able to quickly correct and paint over them.
As an artist I usually I start with a pencil sketch in my painting diary. I don't necessarily paint it straight away, but often visit the diary as inspiration for future work. My true love is the challenge of capturing the the things and sights that have inspired me on my travels around and about.
