Artwork Description

L’immersion was painted in Champagne, France, whilst Tracey was an artist in residence at Chateau Orquevaux (which can be seen in the background of the painting).

Themes: the nude represents the vulnerability of the artistic process, which starts from a blank canvas.
As an artist in residence Tracey felt there was a real pressure to ‘produce the goods’, given the eyes of the world and fellow artist residents were upon her, waiting in anticipation.
" An artistic endeavour comes into the world naked, unnamed and vulnerable. Every creative effort requires the artist to wrest something from nothingness, a purposive cosmos from an apparently indifferent chaos.." Peter London.

The second and third images are a ‘serving suggestion’ showing what the painting would look like in a classical frame.

NB this canvas is unframed/unstretched and will be delivered rolled in a cylindar.
