Water comes here sometimes. Perhaps once a year after heavy rain you can almost hear the bush sigh with pleasure as water seeps from the hill above until the ancient ground - unaccustomed to moisture - can take no more and the water eeks a path down the gully through dips and shadows that will keep it cool enough to live a while.
This narrow gorge has a special place in my heart, as a sight on a regular walk up the ridge near my home. In this triple La Nina year it was greener than I'd ever seen and I loved the creative journey down from muted olive greens of the gum trees, to yellow-green of the highest grasses, into emerald then the blue-greens of saplings and lichen.
It's a little piece but there's a lot in there to notice something new every time you look.
