Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
Bringing warmth and dynamism, this semi-abstract impressionist piece is a homage to the blue gum that towers over my back fence. I have always been interested in the contrast of the brilliant Australian sky-blue against the muted green-grey-blues of the gum tree; as well as the deep red tips of new stalks alongside the hot pink flushes of fluffy blossoms (which invariably attract wattle birds and parrots, for added entertainment!).
I'm thrilled with the life and dynamism in this piece. I painted this 'en plein air' on a sunny Autumn morning, first laying down the pinks and reds with a view to overlay with the range of blues. I was so exhilarated by the warm colours however that I let this piece become what it wanted, and left a more abstract version that celebrated the pinks whole heartedly.
The work in on thin-edged stretched canvas, with the paint wrapping round the sides for a finished look if hanging unframed. Will take a range of frame colours and styles to suit your decor.
