Oil on linen
Signed on the front.
At the edge of winter and under midday sun, this little pocket of scrub had a fascinating mix of warm and cool muted tones: the brownish pinks on the last of the dead winter bracken, against green-blues of new foliage on the eucalyptus saplings. The organic forms and soft edges make this a thing of gentle warmth and aliveness, which I hope holds space for you to pause and breath a while.
Fun fact: The textural dark brown areas are actually done with coffee grounds! This was a fun way to get organic marks and explore a sustainable pigment option. Along with rag work, the organic mark making let me step further back from the subject and let the bush tell Her story through me.
