Oil on linen
Signed on the front.
From a plein air session, this is called Possum Tree because at the time I was in the bush to do this piece a large brush tailed possum descended from the upper branches and sat grooming itself in the fork of this tree, mostly hidden by the dense foliage. I had the privelage of its company for around a half hour, and I was taken by how beautifully it sat within its surrounds, blending to the point of invisibility, much like its tree home sat within the bush.
The topic then lent itself to a mimalist, summary approach with a focus on harmony, energy and blended colour.
As a nature lover I have a sustainability policy in my work and so I like to work on unstretched linen which is a more sustainable fabric than many others and also removes the need for bubblewrap to ship. There is ample margin of fabric around the painted area to accommodate any framing choice.
