The snug sanctuaries in my "Hollows" collection tell of shared space; of creatures who are off about their business with no reference to we humans, who are left but to wonder, wide eyed and delighted, at who might return to rest - safe, warm and fat-bellied - once we've looked away.
These stylised paintings represent the ethereal serenity of these features of the forest. “Hollows 3” was all about long, calming lines, delicate marks and softly nuanced tones. The nest is inspired by those built by the eastern spinebill - a small nectar-eating bird common in south eastern Australia.
This piece is on unstretched, fine-weave linen. This makes it easier to handle and more sustainable in shipping, as it arrives in a mailing tube with little or no plastic bubblewrap required. Any framer can easily stretch this onto a frame for you. Prices are kept lower to allow for this extra framing step. Size given here is finished image size after stretching.
