Boundless Painting

I am not the first to chase that eluding light. But it’s something I feel I have always had an attraction to. Boundless reminds me I can set a trap and wait for Mr. Light to come to me. So while I wait, I’ll add a few thoughtful marks and bold colors to lure him in.

Legion of Boom
This artwork was a collaboration for the opening of The New Legion Restaurant Bar and Grill, brought to us by ex-Seahawk players Richard Sherman and Cam Chancellor. In this painting, I wanted to capture their transition from the field to the restaurant business, with Richard in the classic Seahawk colors and Cam in the New Legion restaurant colors. The last time I was with Cam, we laughed about how he and Richard used to do that little dance when they scored touchdowns, just as I depicted in the painting.

Armstrong
This painting has been in the works for quite some time in my mind, portraying the ambassador of jazz, Mr. Louis Armstrong. My goal for this painting was to depict Satchmo, aka Louis Armstrong, in the familiar role of leading the show. Dressing him in a very flashy green suit and red tie, I feel helps to showcase his grand personality and stage presence. From an artistic point of view, it was such a joy to focus on the little details of the blue piping and stitching on his lapel, tie, and other areas. I added blue accents to enhance the overall composition. This painting offers many points of interest. Behind Armstrong, I aimed to capture the essence of jazz by highlighting some of the most famous and beloved jazz players to ever grace the music scene. This painting invites you to sit down and enjoy its liveliness, immersing yourself in Louis Armstrong's world of jazz. Creating this painting on acrylic glass gives it a luxurious, contemporary look with very clean lines, and the appearance of the artwork floating on the wall. If you're a jazz lover, this one's for you.
Ever since I can remember, I've been a huge fan of Howlin' Wolf's soulful music. As a true blues enthusiast, the essence of this music courses through my veins. The spirit of the Wolf himself has long lingered on my list of artistic muses, and today, I'm elated to declare that I've brought my vision to life.
With a heart steeped in the blues, I set out to honor this influential bluesman. I've meticulously crafted a portrayal that captures the essence of Howlin' Wolf – his fiery passion, his raw intensity, and the very soul that defined his music. As I stand back and gaze upon the artwork, I can almost hear his deep gravelly voice echoing through the paint strokes. This is one of those legendary jazz men that I had to paint. Thelonious Monk was a giant in the jazz world but not as often thought about as some of the more common names. The interplay between the warm and cool colors of reds and blues makes this a very electrifying painting. I gave the great man a noble stance, and placed analogous colors all over his face while bringing a few warm rhythms to his beard, mustache and glasses. This interplay worked well against the contemporary bold abstract background. I finished the painting off with a harmonizing calligraphy monogram of his name, Monk.
