Artwork Description

This painting is about the transformation of nature in the urbane space. The night illumination of building facades and parks with saturated color lights is getting a common feature of the night life in big cities. It transforms the built and natural environment for the night, creating visual excitement and artificiality. I painted flowers, which are naturally beautiful, with wash of saturated ultramarine to create a delicate and non-naturalistic representation of ephemeral beauty, suffused in blue just for a night.

Artist Bio

I am an emerging artist based in Brisbane, Meeanjin Country. My abstract works respond to the social events and visual stimuli I encounter, transformed through my personal reflections and experiences.

A recurring theme in my art is the interaction of natural processes and human activity in the urban environment. I am responding to the beauty and intensity of nature and the controlled environment in which we live and experience it. The organic forms and gestural marks are confined in the shape of the canvases or the grid. Some works reflect on global issues, such as urbanization and climate change, other are intuitive expressions of personal experiences.

I exhibit annually and was a finalist at Bayside Visual Art Prize 2019, and a category winner at Ashrei Art Prize in 2020 and 2023.
