Artwork Description

Industrial Revolution II by Wendy Sherwell is a large original abstract blending bright colours with white and black highlights. The mark making suggests buildings, cranes, industrial machinery with a smokey soft backdrop. The feeling of joy is reflected in this piece, as people were suddenly in a better place financially and life became easier as machines did the hard repetitive jobs. A new middle class was created who had more freedoms from the day to day struggle to survive.

Artist Bio

Wendy Sherwell has always loved art and started painting seriously about 20 years ago and has made a concerted effort to hone her skills. She loves painting bright colourful abstract art and her main inspiration came originally from the Blue Rider Group and the fauvism painters. Wendy is now branching out into abstracted landscape paintings and experimenting with large palette knives to create emotive individual original paintings. She is a very eclectic artist and is inspired by many things in the natural world. From time to time you will see some surrealistic art and there is a wide variety of styles in her portfolio. Experimentation with artistic ideas is what keeps her art alive and energetic!
