A Rainbow Lorikeet has landed in an apple tree and has struck the jackpot! The tree is laden with fruit just ripe and ready for harvest. Sharing similar colours to the green leaves and red and green apples this happy bird blends in so well as he settles himself in amongst the leaves and apples. There is part of an old gray and brown wooden fence visible in the foreground so immediately it becomes evident that the bird is in someone's backyard! If it weren't for his striking bright blue head you might not even notice him hiding in the tree.

I painted 'Discarded Treasures' as a tribute to the quiet power of nature’s cycles, the way our beloved gum trees shed and regenerate. This particular tree, found in the countryside of Blackwood, Victoria, caught my eye with it's layers of discarded bark curled protectively at it's base. Each strip of bark tells a story of growth, letting go, and making way for renewal. I was struck by the contrast of the pale trunk rising strong and new, surrounded by these remnants of the past. In painting it, I wanted to celebrate how even what is shed or cast aside still has beauty in nature. I chose this floating frame in Tasmanian oak to complement the earthy tones and textures in this piece. Hope you enjoy and thank you for supporting my artwork. xxx
