Our day drive out west with end destination Sofala and Hill End from Bathurst, didn't go well on this occasion. Came across road works completely blocking the country road just before reaching Sofala.
We decided to return to the Great Western Highway and continue south towards Oberon to head to Jenolan Caves for a break. It was on this summer afternoon when we were driving along the Jenolan Caves Road, when we came across this country scene. "Morning Gold" is a vibrant painting of this serene landscape dotted with grazing cows amongst the lush growth of grasses in shades of yellow. A prominent flowering tree stands out under bright sunny skies. I’ve covered the foreground with grasses and foliage in rich yellows, orange and greens. There is a fence running through the painting adding depth to this scene. The background I finished off with distant hills and trees adding perspective. I enjoyed using vivid colours and expressive brushstrokes.
