Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
Branches of an orange tree with fruit and emerging buds arranged with books and a stone jug sit on a floral tablecloth.
This painting is a balance between rich hues and heavy watercolours in areas and light filled washes in others. The books chosen for their colours before realising the middle book was called Still Life.
The Art Nouveau style is echoed in the patterned tablecloth. Black ink linework gives the effect of stained glass while adding to the tonal depth.
Painted on 300gsm cotton rag textured watercolour paper with archival quality paints and ink it is ready to frame.
