Acrylic on linen
Signed on the front.
Full of gentle energy and freshness, the creek emerges from mysterious beginnings deep in the ancient forest, awakened by dapples of sunlight.
Large loose brushwork and water wash keep this piece lively and organic. Just as in the mineral-rich turquoise waters of the actual river, the splashes of turquoise were a thrilling accent to a simple split complementary palette of ochre and warm-green to muted mauve. The darkest tones are deep aubergine purple and dark olive green.
Inspired by the seven waterfalls of Kawazu, on Japan's Izu Peninsula.
Done on unstretched fine-weave Italian linen. There is ample margin fabric around the painting to allow for any framing choice.
