Rambling and weatherbeaten as an old cottage and equally endearing, this messy little thicket is home to wrens and swallows, lizards and moths and unseen spiders that will weave silver thread from tip to tip in the night. To me, it is full of delicious berry tones, warm neutrals and delicate texture.

This piece is a small colour study for the slightly larger final work. I found the bright greens thrilling against the mulberry tones and pinkish neutral. They give a lively pop to a small piece, whereas the larger work wanted to be more earthy.
