Out of a mysterious gold fog emerges an Asian architectural treasure! The low sun struggles to break through the fog creating a golden glow as it sometimes does, providing a simplified but mysterious backdrop to the complex structure. The mystery of what lies beyond will soon be known….or will it? Simple truths are sometimes veiled. Mysteries are veiled by their very nature. But, maybe there is no mystery. Maybe the artist simply wanted you to focus on the structure. The viewer is left to their own imagination to ponder this and explore the beauty of this Eastern Asian architectural gem with magnificently colored roof tiles and adorned with unsurpassed ornate decorative details. These distinctive roof elements called “chofas” are often adorned with glass mosaics and actually represent the Garuda, an important mythical creature in Thailand. http://thaiarchitecture.blogspot.com/2009/04/chofa-and-naga.html
The chofas accent the golden fog and, by their mythical nature and shape, add to the mystery of this Thai architectural treasure.

Glenn Cannon is a very beautiful area in Pisgah Forest North Carolina. There ware some magical spots in the woods. This natural waterfall is one of those special places. To me, it was a painting waiting to happen to capture that beauty and natural wonder. Photo reference credit and thanks go out to my sister in law Dianne Wall. Painted on canvas mostly with palette knives, perfect for capturing the colorful amazing texture of the scene. Painted in acrylic on 16 x 20 canvas.

Original Acrylic on canvas, painted entirely with palette knives. This painting started out being painted as a live demo on the Rooftop Patio at the #WacoWineryTastingRoom on #AustinAve in #DowntownWacoTexas. The video shows the beginning stages of blocking in shapes and background. The remaining work was completed over the next week back in my #McGregorTexas Studio. Inspired by a trip years ago to Sedona Arizona, one of my favorite trips ever that included a visit to Tlaquepaque along the river in Sedona. This fantastic place built in the style of an old Mexican village, inspired me to use my photo reference as a starting point to create an imaginary scene adding to the scene as needed with artist license to create a painting with vibrant color and texture. The resulting painting was very much UNLIKE the blowing, rainy, winter day where I began the painting! An ESCAPE! It takes me away and I hope it does you too!
