This painting was inspired by a recent trip to Turkey. Every town we visited was so exotic and rich in history and very different to any other country I’ve visited. One particular town called Pamukkale just left me mesmerised with its surreal beauty and we were lucky enough to view the landscape from an aerial perspective from a hot air balloon. The mineral rich thermal turquoise coloured waters flow down travertine terraces and almost seem surreal.
I paint intuitively and did an abstract interpretation of the Pamukkale area ( literally meaning ‘cotton castles’)
I think this painting would make a stunning piece on an entrance wall or in a lounge room where it could be a talking piece for many as it has so much interest in the layering of shapes and different blue hues and the geometric influences.
