One of my earliest memories is holidaying on the coast and being at the beach early every morning. My mum would say “...we have to go early before the wind comes up” and off we’d traipse.

In all the years since, the beach at morning is still one of my most favourite places to be. The sun coming up hugging the cliff lines; the glare that slowly builds on the water (until squinting is no longer an option and you have to pull on the sunnies); the quiet sand that hasn’t yet been stamped over with thousands of footprints. That warmth I remember back then, and still feel now, reminds me of a giant warm squishy hug. Guess that’s why this painting screamed at me to title it what I did!
