Outback Australia

I've been blown away by the colours of the natural environment we encountered on my one and only trip to this vast region. We travelled north west from Sydney to south western Qld, headed down the one and only Birdsville Track, experienced being bogged down south of Mungerannie along the track, heading towards Marree. Further south we saw the Flinders Ranges from a distance, arrived at Port Augusta and from there headed north to Coober Pedy, side tracked to Uluru, then Alice Springs and north till the famous Daly River Pub in NT. I found the colours and tones of the earth along the way amazing... from off white sands, ochre to light brown, nearly burnt red, browns to close to black. Just stunning. And the vegetation along the way was a surprise to me, as I'd always imagined the outback was sandy with just the salt bushes here and there. An amazing remote region, full of surprises, especially at night... the sky on a clear night.... the stars of the Milky Way sparkling brilliantly. A must see again destination.
